Stay Tuned

I told my hairdresser about air frying boiled eggs for breakfast when I get to work and now I will be teaching how to cook in the air fryer. Stay tuned for updates. I love him cause he’s so dramatic and this should be a hoot. Last night after numerous texts and calls, he did make himself an awesome steak for dinner in the air fryer. While it’s not a grill, it’s much easier after a long day especially if it’s just for one person.

The Great Fire of 2022

I say that in jest and thank the Lord is was something minor. I had Claudia and Marie over and was sewing while making dinner. We are sewing away when every smoke alarm in my house went off. I had put a potato in the microwave for Shannon, and I guess the microwave must have shorted out. It not only burnt the plate but the potato was on fire and the microwave full of flames.

You like to think you react quickly but all I could think of was call my son in law. Thankfully Marie put out the microwave while the amazing Claudia took the flaming potato outside. I am so thankful she didn’t burn herself. They even helped clean up the mess and even stayed for dinner after all that. Oh and no, we didn’t have that potato for dinner.

Here’s a comparison to a regular potato. Remember that old commercial, this is your brain and this is your brain on drugs.

Kevin’s Retirement

I have never figured out how my boss and her husband met as they are complete opposites. She is your typical straight laced CPA and her husband, who is an amazing math teach, is a complete hippy. He travels every summer to music festivals all over the country in his motorhome. I think he owns about 400 tie dyed shirts and a slew of birkenstock sandals.

He finally retired after 20 plus years as a school teacher so what better retirement gift than a hippy quilt. He was so excited when Terri took it home because it matches his Grateful Dead poster perfectly. He keeps it on the bed in his music room where he listens to albums in the evening. I’m glad he loves it. I had been wanting to make that one for quite a while.

Figured I’d Do A Couple Of Posts

Thought I’d go ahead while I’m here and do a few posts to keep updated. So what else is new. Hmm oh yeah we had a possible hurricane. Those are always fun.

It’s hard to pray about hurricanes because praying they turn and don’t come into your area is almost like praying it hits someone else. This was scheduled to come around in the Tampa area as a category 4 almost category 5 storm. That would have been devastating to say the least. It turned but it still came on land as a category 4 in Ft. Myers. Quite a few people died and many lost their homes, businesses, etc. That area will take years to recover. Many don’t evacuate when asked because the storms change so much and some have no where to go but you don’t have a great chance of surviving a 7 foot wall of water washing over your home. I had friends that had water up to their roof line. I will say living alone and having these storms rattle windows and slam things into your house in the pitch dark is a bit unnerving.

We were lucky in our area. We had some category one winds and tree damage and many were without power for days but we didn’t have floods, alligators and sharks swimming in the streets and people drowning in their homes so thank you Jesus.

I am thrilled the kids had that 100 ft. tree taken down. Without a doubt it would have been laying on their house. I keep picturing the house falling on the witch and all that sticks out are those crazy socks. I just had a lot of yard clean up and I hope my cloak plant survives. It took a terrible beating and broke way back. Here is my before and after.

I Try And Keep Up

I try to keep up with my blog better but honestly, I don’t do much that is all that exciting. I work, I clean my house and I have my boys. That pretty much takes up a large portion of my time.

I have to share more pics of the things my friends are working on because I am still so impressed how much they have learned and how much they have accomplished in such a short period of time. I have a beautiful Christmas quilt of Claudia’s I’ll be quilting this weekend and another for Pam. Here are the ones they just recently finished.

Marilyn finished her mystery quilt. It came out so soft and feminine looking. The pastels are so pretty. She is gifting it to a cousin starting breast cancer treatments. I think she’ll love it.

Claudia is making some beautiful fall wreaths. Her talent amazes me. She sees something then just knows how to make it. These are just as pretty as her stunning pin cushions.

Pam just made her first carpenter star quilt (my favorite pattern) and I absolutely love the halloween fabrics she used. It came out great.
